California Derby Galaxy (CDG)

It all started when we weren’t sure what derby was going to look like post pandemic…so we worked with other leagues AND CAME up with: a coalition!

Now… It’s CDG 2023! WOOT WOOT!

What is this coalition we speak of? GOOD QUESTION. We’ll tell you:

The California Derby Galaxy (CDG) is a coalition of seven WFTDA-ruleset roller derby leagues in the greater Bay Area. The purpose of CDG is to provide diverse and numerous opportunities for roller derby athletes and officials to both train and compete, at a variety of levels and frequencies. CDG also has a commitment to lowering barriers to entry for systemically marginalized participants by providing fiscal relief to enable their participation.

CDG is officially a non-profit and we’ll be doing a lot of fundraising for our equity programs and more. Keep your eyes open for cool updates via IG and participating leagues. We’ve rolled into 2023 with big plans! (See what we did there? That's a derby pun. You're welcome.)

Free Agents are back for 2023! If you have roller derby experience and are currently not affiliated with a team, California Derby Galaxy has space for you this season! Our Free Agent program allows skaters with roller derby experience the opportunity to sub into local games in the Bay Area. Our coalition has seven leagues and team teams this year, so there’s lots of opportunity to get your derby fix in… and there’s no long-term committment and CDG charges nothing.
